Pending legislation needs a vote.
A group of over a dozen moderates in the House of Representatives sent a letter calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California to hold a vote on legislation providing additional funding to police departments nationwide.
Nineteen members of her own party wrote the letter in which they said, “As national crime rates increase, including homicides, carjackings, and assaults, now is the time to support local law enforcement through passage of bipartisan, bicameral commonsense legislation.”
Minority leader Kevin McCarthy of California and the leading members of the House Judiciary Committee were also addressed in the letter.
“Cutting to the bone only weakens any profession; it pushes good people out, diminishes overall quality, and fuels a race to the bottom. That’s especially true in law enforcement,” the letter continues. “To make our communities safer, build a future with less crime, and save lives, we should not defund — instead, we must invest to protect.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Pelosi to seek the Lord to improve public safety for all Americans.
- For members of Congress to be wise as they consider funding law enforcement.
- That God would heal the divisions in this nation.
